Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) Hassan Abdel Shafi said on Wednesday that Egypt is determined to eradicate corruption in order to create the appropriate environment for the implementation of the sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) program Egypt Vision 2030.

This came during his speech on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day sponsored by the United Nations.

Abdel Shafi said that fighting corruption will ultimately lead to raising the people's standard of living and thus enhancing human rights.

He pointed out that corruption is a stampede that impedes the stability of society and threatens sustainable development and human rights.

"Egypt is one the first countries to join the United Nations Convention against Corruption, as it aims to eliminate corruption, which is a dangerous global phenomenon," he added.

On his part, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Wednesday that Egypt joined the United Nations Convention against Corruption, believing in the importance of concerted international efforts against corruption in all its forms.

Madbouly added that Egypt has attached great importance to joint international efforts to combat corruption within the framework of the UN and other regional agreements.

He pointed out that Egypt's efforts in this regard are based in favor of combating corruption, which is necessary to ensure justice for all and achieve the goals of Egypt 2030 Vision to support human rights.

He also referred to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to build a modern democratic state that fights corruption through an effective legislative and institutional system in line with international standards.

During the ceremony, Madbouly and the Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority honored prominent figures due to their contributions in implementing the national anti-corruption strategy.

The International Anti-Corruption Day has been observed annually, on December 9, since the United Nations Convention against Corruption was adopted in 2003 to increase public awareness toward fighting corruption.
