Mohamed Abu El-Enein, Member of Parliament and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), stressed that Sharm El-Sheikh is truly the City of Peace, having hosted many international peace conferences for the Middle East.
He warned that the world is going through its most dangerous and important period, especially in the Middle East and Europe, raising serious questions about our role amid global changes.
Chairing the assembly’s bureau meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh from September 11 to 14, Abu El-Enein praised the Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives, Dr. Hanafy Gebaly, as a respected constitutional figure with vast legal expertise.
He highlighted Gabali's significant legislative achievements, including a record 380 laws passed during his second legislative term, addressing key criminal, economic, and political issues, positioning Egypt’s parliament as a strong player internationally.
Abu El-Enein focused on the Middle East crisis, particularly the Palestinian situation, describing daily setbacks faced by an unarmed civilian population enduring violence and forced displacement.
He said, “We are at a crossroads. It is time to end Israeli arrogance, stop the violence, and return to negotiations.”
Abu El-Enein noted the lack of sincere intentions for peace, citing ongoing killing, humiliation, expulsions, and land seizures in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and elsewhere. He warned:"Any disruptions to the peace process, will lead to its collapse."
