The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced the signing of a contract between the General Authority for Red Sea Ports and Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports) to build, develop, manage, and operate passenger and cruise ship terminals at the ports of Hurghada, Safaga and Sharm El Sheikh.
Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir stated that this contract comes within the framework to maximize yacht and cruise ship tourism in Egypt; in light of the lthe cooperation with major international companies specialized in the field of management and operation of terminals.
The contract will include establishing local and international marinas there, review the various and distinct procedures to maximize yacht tourism in Egypt, and simplify and speed up the relevant procedures upon the arrival and departure of foreign yachts from ports and tourist marinas in Egypt.
The Minister explained that the Safaga and Hurghada stations are modern stations that were previously opened in 2015 and 2016, and that the Sharm El Sheikh station will be raised in efficiency and redeveloped through a partnership with Abu Dhabi Ports.
He added that this contract will contribute to increasing national income and has direct and indirect returns, such as providing job opportunities and returns on factories and tourist destinations for tourists and various tourist activities therein, which contributes to increasing national income.
The Minister stated that no less than 95-96% of the workers and work team in these stations are Egyptians, indicating that this contract will contribute to the operation of the cruise line between Zayed Port and the ports of Safaga, Hurghada, and Sharm El-Sheikh, and later the ports of the Arabian Gulf, the port of Aqaba, and European and Asian ports.
