Secretary-General of Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit welcomed the improvement in relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Turkey, which was reflected in the upgrading of relations between the two countries and raising them to the level of ambassadors.
Gamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, said that Aboul Gheit sees this joint decision as a positive development that contributes to improving the atmosphere in the region and strengthening diplomatic communication as a way to solve problems, adding that relations between Arab countries and their neighbors in the region must be established on the basis of mutual respect and rules of the international law, as well as the common interest of the peoples of the region.
