Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit met with UN Special Envoy to Sudan Ramtane Lamamra on Tuesday to review ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Sudanese conflict.
During the meeting, Lamamra detailed his initiatives to bridge gaps between warring parties and mitigate the worsening humanitarian catastrophe and food crisis. The discussions also focused on a consultative coordination meeting scheduled for Wednesday in Cairo, under Egyptian auspices, to unify international responses to the crisis.
Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the Arab League’s commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized the necessity of protecting national institutions, rejecting foreign interference, and supporting a comprehensive Sudanese-led national dialogue.
The meeting underscores the continued collaboration between the Arab League and the United Nations to restore stability and end the violence that has displaced millions across the region.
