​Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received on 18 May, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat, Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), and the accompanying delegation, during his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

​Gamal Roshdy, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting stressed the depth of the longstanding historical relations between China and the Arab world, as well as the importance of continuing mutual support on issues of common interest. For his part, Mr. Aboul Gheit expressed appreciation for China's supportive positions towards the Palestinian cause in international forums.

​The spokesperson added that Mr. Aboul Gheit reaffirmed during the meeting the steadfast Arab position regarding the One China principle and support for China’s efforts to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, considering this a fundamental pillar of its international vision. He noted that the Council of the League of Arab States has consistently reaffirmed this position in all its resolutions.

​The spokesperson further noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit listened to the Chinese minister's assessment of the ongoing war in the Middle East and its adverse repercussions for peoples around the world, as well as to the explanation provided by the minister regarding his country's proposal known as the “Four-Point Initiative,” which aims to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.

​The Secretary-General also received a comprehensive briefing from the Chinese minister on the visit of Donald Trump to Beijing, describing it as an important step toward advancing stability, peace, and development at both the international and regional levels.
