The Arab League’s secretary-general on Sunday praised Saudi Arabia for providing a new aid package worth 1.3 billion riyals ($346 million) to Yemen, saying the move underscores Riyadh’s longstanding support for the Yemeni people.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit said the package highlights the kingdom’s commitment to alleviating suffering in Yemen, where years of conflict have left millions in urgent need of assistance.
League spokesman Gamal Roshdy noted that Yemen faces one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with women and children bearing the brunt. He said extending aid under such dire conditions is an essential humanitarian duty
