Aboul Gheit meets with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on sidelines of Antalya Diplomacy Forum

On the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with Dr. Barham Salih, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

​Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting addressed the worsening crises of displacement and refuge in the Arab region, foremost among them the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan as a result of the ongoing armed conflict, which has generated waves of displacement and refuge that are currently the largest in the world.

​The Secretary-General expressed his profound concern over the catastrophic humanitarian conditions endured by millions of refugees and displaced persons across several Arab countries, stressing that the League of Arab States attaches great importance to the refugee file and works in coordination with the High Commissioner and international partners to alleviate the suffering of those affected and to create conducive conditions for their safe and voluntary return to their homes.
