Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met in Cairo on Sunday evening Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of his current visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Gamal Rushdi, spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that during the meeting, the development of the situation was discussed in light of the continuation of the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and the efforts made by the various parties to put an end to this aggression.
The spokesman said that Aboul Gheit also discussed with President Abbas the tireless Arab efforts made to implement the two-state solution and increase the number of countries supporting Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, as well as increasing the number of countries recognizing Palestine as an independent state.
