Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, met with Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Friday to strengthen strategic and economic cooperation.
During the official visit, Aboul Gheit highlighted the growing partnership, noting that trade exchange between India and Arab nations reached $240 billion in 2025. The discussions focused on the Arab-Indian Cooperation Forum and the implementation of long-standing agreements in economic and political sectors.
The leaders also addressed regional crises, including the situations in Sudan, Yemen, and Libya. Aboul Gheit emphasized the urgency of the Palestinian cause, calling for unobstructed humanitarian aid to Gaza and a transition toward early recovery and reconstruction. Minister Jaishankar commended the League’s efforts in regional peace-building and its firm stance against terrorism. The meeting serves as a precursor to high-level ministerial sessions scheduled this week in the Indian capital.
