Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, to discuss regional stability and a burgeoning peace framework for the Gaza Strip.
The meeting, held during Singh’s official visit to Egypt, centered on recent international developments, specifically the announcement of a second phase for a Gaza peace plan. Discussions highlighted the formation of a Peace Council and a Gaza Management Committee to address the ongoing situation in the region.
According to Gamal Roshdy, spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Aboul Gheit commended India’s support for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. The Indian minister, in turn, praised the League's role in promoting regional peace.
The leaders also looked ahead to the second session of the Arab-Indian Ministerial Meeting scheduled for late January in New Delhi. Aboul Gheit expressed his anticipation for the visit, noting it as a vital opportunity to strengthen historical political, economic, and cultural ties within the framework of the Arab-Indian Forum.
