On Wednesday, Secretary-General of Alrab League (AL) Ahmed Aboul Gheit received Antonio Tajani, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Gabrielius Landsbergis, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, during their visit to Cairo.
Jamal Radhi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said that the two meetings focused on the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip, where the Secretary-General stressed the need to stop the ongoing war as soon as possible so that things do not expand to something more dangerous and get out of control.
He also affirmed that revenge against the residents of Gaza and following a policy of collective punishment is contrary to international law and will not achieve the desired security.
In addition, Abu Gheit expressed his complete rejection of the killing of civilians during the two meetings, stressing the importance of providing protection for Palestinians, and the need to address the root causes that led to the explosion of the situation in this dangerous and unfortunate way, most notably the blockage of the political horizon and the ongoing destruction of the foundations of the two-state solution.
