Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit delivered a lecture at the Egyptian Society for Political Economy, Statistics and Legislation in Cairo, addressing global developments and their future impact on the Arab region.
Speaking to an audience of diplomats, academics and economic experts, Aboul Gheit outlined major geopolitical shifts driven by growing competition among global powers, economic volatility and rapid advances in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. He said the world is undergoing a period of “restructuring” that will require Arab states to reassess strategic priorities and strengthen regional cooperation.
Aboul Gheit warned that escalating conflicts and disruptions in global supply chains pose direct challenges to Arab national security, particularly in areas of food, water and energy. He stressed the need for long-term investment in education, innovation and economic integration to safeguard the region’s stability.
The event concluded with a discussion session in which attendees raised questions on Arab international relations and the role of the League amid accelerating global changes.
