Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, is heading to the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Thursday, at the invitation of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to participate in several high-level events.

Gamal Roshdy, official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, stated that Aboul Gheit will participate in the second session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Arab-Indian Cooperation Forum, scheduled for January 31 in New Delhi.

The meeting will be attended by Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation (current President of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial level), and Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, alongside broad participation from Arab ministers.

The spokesperson explained that Aboul Gheit is also scheduled to inaugurate the Arab-Indian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.

The inauguration will be attended by Kirti Vardhan Singh, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Dr. Waiel Awwad, who is tasked with managing the Chamber, along with Arab ambassadors in New Delhi and prominent business leaders from both sides.

Roshdy added that the launch of the Chamber is expected to boost trade exchange and encourage mutual investments between Arab countries and India.

Furthermore, Roshdy noted that a collective meeting is planned on the sidelines of the visit between Aboul Gheit and Arab ministers on one side, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the other, to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Aboul Gheit will also hold talks with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to explore ways to elevate Arab-Indian relations.

During the visit, Arab League chief will also participate in a seminar titled "The Changing Global Landscape and its Impact on the Arab Region," hosted by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) research center.
