Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned Israel’s approval of a law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners, saying the measure contradicts the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.
In a statement, Aboul Gheit said the legislation undermines justice and entrenches discrimination against Palestinians, describing it as a dangerous escalation that could further destabilize the region. He warned that the move reflects the growing influence of extremist policies within Israeli decision-making circles.
The statement also expressed concern over what it described as the international community’s inability to effectively confront such actions, cautioning that continued inaction could push the situation in the Palestinian territories toward greater violence and instability.
