Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the unlawful and hostile infiltration by elements of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard into Kuwait’s Bubiyan Island and their engagement with the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, which resulted in the injury of one of their personnel. He described the incident as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and security of the State of Kuwait, as well as a blatant breach of international law, the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that this armed Iranian infiltration of Kuwaiti territory constitutes a dangerous precedent that cannot be tolerated, and represents a serious escalation that must be exposed and confronted, as it reveals a premeditated intent to destabilise regional security at an exceptionally sensitive juncture.
He further affirmed his rejection of the systematic Iranian escalation witnessed in recent days against a number of Arab Gulf states, including the targeting of Gulf territories and territorial waters with missiles and drones, culminating in the attempted ground infiltration of Kuwait’s Bubiyan Island. He called on Iran to immediately cease all hostile acts against Arab states, holding it fully responsible for these actions and their consequences.
Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, conveyed the Secretary-General’s full solidarity with the State of Kuwait and its legitimate right to self-defence in accordance with Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as support for all measures it may deem appropriate to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He further asserted that the security of the State of Kuwait constitutes an integral part of Arab national security, and that any threat directed against Kuwait is wholly condemned and categorically rejected.
