Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned in the strongest terms the renewed blatant Iranian aggression targeting the State of Kuwait with missiles and drones on 1 June in flagrant violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, issued on 11 March 2026.
Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed his unequivocal rejection of this aggressive Iranian escalation, which endangers civilian lives and undermines Kuwait’s sovereignty, security, and stability at a time when intensive diplomatic efforts are being undertaken to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He affirmed that such a course of action will yield nothing but further isolation and regional rejection of Iran.
Jamal Roshdy, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said Mr. Aboul Gheit lauded the efficiency of the Kuwaiti air defence forces in repelling the Iranian attacks. He also reiterated the League’s unwavering support for the State of Kuwait and its full solidarity with all measures it undertakes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
