Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, emphasized the importance of elevating the Arab-Japanese partnership to a strategic level, highlighting Japan's esteemed position and advanced economy.
Speaking at the Arab-Japanese Economic and Trade Conference in Tokyo, Aboul Gheit praised the resilience of Arab-Japanese cooperation, which has maintained robust trade exchanges despite global crises.
He noted the significant role of both government and private sectors in fostering economic ties and called for expanding this partnership in various fields such as education, energy, digital technology, health, and artificial intelligence.
He commended Japan's intensive activities, including the Prime Minister's visits to Arab countries and various cooperation agreements in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Jordan.
Aboul Gheit also highlighted Japan's financial support to Palestine and UNRWA, advocating for further strengthening rather than reducing its role.
He urged continued Japanese investment in the Arab region, especially from small and medium-sized enterprises, and encouraged Arab businesses to seize opportunities in the Japanese market.
He concluded by expressing his aspiration for a strategic partnership that aligns with the ambitions of both peoples and their economic potential, underscoring the forum's role in promoting collaboration in these areas.
