Secretary-General of Arab League (AL) Ahmed Aboul Gheit held talks on Sunday with the Algerian Foreign Minister (FM) Ramtane Lamamra in Cairo.
The meeting comes as a part of the ongoing consultations and coordination between both sides to achieve the success of the upcoming Arab summit. They discussed various Arab and regional issues, as well as preparations for the next Arab summit, set to be hosted in Algeria.
On his part, Aboul Gheit underlined the need to push forward Arab-African cooperation through the mechanisms adopted between the two regional groupings that maintain a long history of friendship, cooperation, and coordination.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, the Secretary-General of AL hailed Alegria's supportive stances at all levels.
In this regard, both officials agreed on the importance of preserving African historical positions in support of their struggle against colonialism.
Concerning the Libyan crisis, Aboul Gheit, and Lamamra stressed the important and essential role of Libya's neighboring countries in dealing with this crisis and addressing its consequences.
