Today, Wednesday, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, the representative of the State of Palestine to the League, he conveyed a written message from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).
Gamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the message included a categorical Palestinian rejection of the principles announced by the Israeli Prime Minister for the so-called “day after” war, and a warning of the danger of what was stated in these principles, especially in terms of denying the existence of the Palestinian people and insisting on imposing Israeli sovereignty over the entire land extending from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River.
The letter appealed to the Secretary-General to continue working for a ceasefire, complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, provide humanitarian aid, prevent the Palestinians displacement, and stop the Israeli government’s plans and all its practices that call for the maintenance of Israel’s control and the establishment of its presence in the Gaza Strip.
The official spokesman quoted Secretary-General Aboul Gheit as confirming during the meeting that he would continue to work to achieve all the goals mentioned in the Palestinian President’s message, most notably reaching an immediate ceasefire, working to bring aid to Gaza.
