Aboul Enein Congratulates Egypt's Grand Mufti on Extending His Tenure

On Thursday, Parliament Deputy Speaker MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein congratulated Dr. Shawki Allam, Egypt's Grand Mufti, on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's decision to extend his mandate in service for an additional year.

"We extend our sincere congratulations to Dr. Shawki Allam, Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's decision, No. 339 of 2021, to extend his service for an additional year, Abou El-Enein said in a post on his Facebook account.

He added, "Dr. Allam is a prominent religious scholar in the modern history of Egypt, praising his efforts in spreading the moderate message of Islam, and the tolerant values ​​that consolidate moderation and coexistence in order to preserve the true meaning of religion and maximize our belonging to the homeland."

The prominent businessman added that Dr. Allam's tolerant views and his enlightened fatwas deduced from the Noble Qur’an and the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed have enriched the entire Islamic nation, and the Egyptian society, with more evident truth that prevent any suspicious attempts to question the tolerance of Islam.

Meanwhile, Allam thanked President Sisi for his decision to extend his service for an additional year.

In a press release, Allam said that this trust will make him continue Darul Iftaa’s successes concerning renewing thought related to fatwa (religious edicts) and strengthening contacts with other authorities to eliminate extremist thought and spread the principles of coexistence and tolerance and the moderate teachings of Islam.

He also thanked the president for considering Egypt's Darul Iftaa as an authority of special nature.

He asserted that Sisi’s decisions reflect his keenness on the Egyptian religious institutions and his support for their fight against terrorism and extremism.
