Parliament deputy speaker MP Mohamed Abou El Enein expressed his appreciation to the Speaker of the Parliament, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Gebaly, the subcommittee and the Legislative Committee for their great effort in preparing and drafting the draft criminal procedure law.
During his speech at the plenary session of the House of Representatives, to discuss the new draft criminal procedure law, Abou El-Enein stressed the importance of the dialogue taking place regarding the draft criminal procedure law in the House of Representatives, adding that he was in USA last week to participate in one of the important conferences, he confirmed that a dialogue took place between him and a US journalist who asked him about the Criminal Procedure Code and the numerous talks and opinions on it.
The Parliament deputy speaker revealed that that he asked the journalist: “Have you read about the law, or the 2014 Constitution?” The journalist told him that he had not read, so Abou El Enein noted that the constitution contains 65 articles on rights and freedoms, and the Criminal Procedure law came upon the directives of the political leadership.
He stressed that we will go to the International Human Rights Council with our heads held high, next January after presenting Criminal Procedure law in a manner befitting Egypt.
