MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA-UfM), issued a powerful statement today praising Egypt’s proactive role in navigating regional crises.
He emphasized that the only viable solution to ongoing conflicts is a return to the negotiating table, noting that history has proven that wars leave no true winners.
A Shuttle Diplomacy for Peace
Abou El-Enein highlighted the "pivotal and tireless role" played by Egypt, describing a "shuttle-like speed" in diplomatic movements orchestrated under the leadership of *President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi*. He noted that this vision is fully supported by the Egyptian Parliament and the nation’s leadership to ensure regional security.
"Egypt’s Foreign Minister has traveled the world with a singular mission," Abou El-Enein stated. "Working at times to calm tensions and at others to halt escalation, Egypt consistently promotes reconciliation. The message remains firm: the only path forward is a return to the negotiating table."
The Lessons of History
Addressing the futility of armed conflict, the PA-UfM President posed a philosophical yet pragmatic question: “Do wars ever truly mend conditions, or do they ever truly end with a victor?”
He further elaborated on the historical reality of global conflicts:
No Real Winners: Across all eras, history shows that wars fail to produce absolute victors.
The Inevitability of Dialogue: Every major conflict in history has ultimately reached its conclusion through negotiation, not just the battlefield.
The Voice of Wisdom: Abu El-Enein called for the international community to adopt this wisdom today to prevent further loss of life and resources.
Commitment to the Mediterranean
As the head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, Abou El-Enein reaffirmed his commitment to utilizing parliamentary diplomacy to echo Egypt’s call for peace, urging all parties involved in current regional tensions to prioritize dialogue over destruction.
