Egypt was elected as the vice president of the Union for the Mediterranean, a win for Egyptian diplomacy.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy Ali Gebaly hailed the participation of Parliament deputy speaker, the Honorary President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Mohamed Abou El-Enein in the meetings of the expanded bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
During the plenary session of the House of Representatives, Gebali said that MP Abou El-Enein had active contributions to these meetings, in which he discussed many topics, all within the framework of the tireless and continuous efforts of Egyptian parliamentary diplomacy.
Gebali said that Abou El-Enein represented the Speaker of the House of Representatives during these meetings, which probed significant issues.
On his part, MP Abou El-Enein thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives for authorizing him to participate in the Assembly on behalf of the Egyptian Parliament.
The Honorary President of PAM stressed that there is a good global impression of the Egyptian parliament's important role, adding, " We are partners with the European Union because of its great importance."
He also said that they discussed several issues on the international scene, such as climate change, water and food crises, the economic crisis, and other problems facing the whole world.
Abou El-Enein also affirmed that there is a great appreciation for Egypt abroad, confirming that he spoke with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, who expressed her admiration for the Egyptian experiences in many fields.
"I am proud that the international community is talking about Egypt and its achievements, as well as the achievements of the House of Representatives," he concluded.
