Egypt’s House of Representatives in the New Capital will host the 10th Summit of Parliament Speakers and the 19th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
The meetings will be held under the presidency of MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
The two-day gathering will begin on Saturday, 4 July, with the Summit of Parliament Speakers, meetings of the assembly’s five committees, and meetings of the Bureau and Expanded Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
The second day, Sunday, 5 July, will see the 19th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly. The session is expected to approve the recommendations of the assembly’s committees and adopt the final declaration of the Summit of Parliament Speakers.
The meetings will discuss several issues reflecting the priorities of Egypt’s presidency of the assembly.
These include parliamentary diplomacy and efforts to support a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, as well as artificial intelligence governance for people and development.
The agenda will also address prospects for economic integration between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
Participants will also discuss ways to strengthen youth and women’s empowerment and increase their participation in decision-making and development across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The meetings are expected to underline Egypt’s role in supporting parliamentary dialogue, regional cooperation and stronger ties between Mediterranean countries
