On Tuesday, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, held a phone call with Hakan Fidan, Türkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging views on several regional issues of mutual concern.
Ambassador Tamer Al Sheikh, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the conversation covered various topics related to strengthening ties between the two countries.
Notably, the ministers discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Egypt in the first quarter of 2026.
During this visit, President Erdoğan will co-chair the second session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Therefore, Minister Abdelatty emphasized the significance of the visit in building on the momentum in Egyptian-Turkish relations and hoped that it would contribute to strengthening economic cooperation, increasing trade exchanges, and encouraging mutual investments to benefit both nations.
The official spokesperson further noted that the ministers also exchanged views on the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Moreover, Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of solidifying the ceasefire and progressing to the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement.
He emphasized the need for establishing a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage daily affairs in Gaza, paving the way for the return of the Palestinian Authority to assume full responsibility.
Minister Abdel-Aty also highlighted the importance of deploying an international stabilization force and initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
He reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any actions that could undermine Palestinian territorial unity, including Israel’s ongoing violations in the West Bank.
Regarding developments in Syria, the ministers discussed recent updates, with Minister Abdel-Aty stressing the need for a comprehensive and sustainable political solution.
This solution, he said, should maintain the unity and territorial integrity of Syria while meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people.
He also called for de-escalation, prioritizing political dialogue and solutions to achieve stability, and rejecting any actions that threaten civilian security.
At the conclusion of the call, the two ministers agreed on the importance of continued consultation and coordination on various regional and international issues of shared interest, including developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, to support stability and enhance mutual interests between Egypt and Turkey.
