Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Sunday with Simeón Oyono Esono Angue, Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and International Cooperation.

The call came in light of Equatorial Guinea’s presidency of the African Union Peace and Security Council this month.

Abdelatty began by conveying the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea, emphasizing Egypt’s deep appreciation for the strong ties between the two countries and its commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields.

The discussion highlighted the positive developments in relations between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.

Moreover, FM stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations, encouraging the private sector to increase investments, and collaborating on development projects of mutual benefit.

He also extended an invitation to his Equatorial Guinean counterpart to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity to further enhance bilateral cooperation.

The two ministers also exchanged views on promoting security and stability in Africa, particularly the situations in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan, given Equatorial Guinea’s current leadership of the AU Peace and Security Council.

In this regard, both sides agreed on the need to intensify efforts to support political solutions and foster stability across the continent.

In the context of preparations for the upcoming African Union (AU) Summit, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination within AU institutions.

They also agreed to exchange support for each other’s candidates in international organizations, reflecting the depth of cooperation and solidarity between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.
