Abdel Ghaffar: COVID-19 Death Rates Declined by 44%

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Acting Minister of Health announced on Tuesday, that COVID-19 death rates declined by 44% during the past week. 

During the Ministry's weekly meeting, Abdel Gahhafr also noted that the number of people who are admitted to intensive care units and intermediate care units nationwide also decreased by 50% during the same period.

Last Sunday, the Acting Health minister said that presidential initiatives provide distinguished services to citizens for free.

The minister’s remarks came during the ceremony, held to honor the distinguished employees during the past three months.

Moreover, Abdel Ghaffar added that the strategic stockpile of coronavirus vaccines is safe, stressing that the epidemiological situation is stable.

It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced on Saturday that the average number of daily infections with COVID-19 during the last week reached 625 cases, while the average daily death toll was eight new cases.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, said in a statement that the average daily number of people recovering from coronavirus last week reached 615, bringing the total number of people recovering from the virus so far to 434,506.
