The Spokesperson of the Minister of Health Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said that the Respiratory syncytial virus emergence is linked to weather in Egypt.

Abdel Ghaffar added that this virus is stronger as Egypt witnesses the final part of Autumn and the beginning of Winter.

He highlighted in a phone interview with TV anchor Mohamed Mostafa Sherdi, that this virus exists long years ago, however, its wide emergence this year is similar to the spread of other Respiratory viruses.

Regarding infections, the spokesperson of the ministry added that 98 of the cases experience mild symptoms, and they can be recovered without any medicines. However, 2% of the cases can face complications.

The symptoms of the virus are similar to flu and cold such as fever for three days, and breathing difficulties.

In addition, there is no specialized medicine for the virus or vaccine, and it couldn't be treated by antibiotics.
