Culture Min. Urges Officials to Follow Up Cultural Sites' Inauguration

Dr Enas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, assigned Dr Ahmed Awwad, head of the General Organization of Culture Palaces, to visit and follow up all the measures of the cultural sites' inauguration.

In this regard, the minister said that North Sinai Governorate is full of intellectuals and creators, adding that Sinai carries a distinct and rich cultural heritage.

The minister also stressed that Sinai “The turquoise land” will remain one of the prominent symbols of the Egyptian identity.

She announced the establishment of a center for “the development of talented people” in the various fields of artistic and cultural creativity at El-Arish Culture Palace after its inauguration.

In addition, she urged concerned officials to prepare programs for training on environmental and heritage crafts, enhancing the clubs of Al- Badia poets to achieve the principle of cultural justice.

The move aims to prepare a comprehensive report on the organization’s cultural sites in the cities and villages of North Sinai to develop and raise their efficiency and inaugurate many cultural and artistic projects on October.

Accordingly, Awwad inspected the sites of “Child and Youth Library” in the village of Najah in the city of Bir al-Abd, crowning it with “ a club for writers” and a new set of books and modern publications of the Ministry of Culture.

Dr. Awwad stated that an operating program for El-Arish Culture Palace is currently being prepared, and its implementation will start immediately after its opening- after being closed for more than ten years.

Dr. Awwad stressed his support for the writers, poets and intellectuals of North Sinai who support President El-Sisi in all national and development projects to build our modern Egypt.

Furthermore, he hailed the role of the heroes of the army and police in maintaining security and safety.

Later, Awwad, accompanied by Major General Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, Governor of North Sinai, inspected an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional crafts; they witnessed a performance for “Spontaneous Arts Troupe” - which was formed in early July.

Afterwards, they visited Al-Arish Culture Palace, followed by a visit to North Sinai writers, poets and intellectuals at the Public Library in “Al Baladeya Square.

They conveyed the greetings and the appreciation of Dr Abdel Dayem, who directed them to exert more efforts to promote the cultural scene in North Sinai to suit this precious part of Egypt and to confront extremism and terrorism in all its forms.

On his part, the Governor of North Sinai, valued the role of the Ministry of Culture in reshaping the Egyptian awareness through the activities presented in the various cultural sites.

Major General Shousha stressed the necessity and importance of culture and arts in preserving the identity and the need to provide the necessary support for them, referring to their role in combating terrorism and extremist, in addition to developing the community of Sinai.

On the other hand, the writers requested concerned officials to organize “The Egyptian Writers Conference” in North Sinai.

It is worthy of note that the Culture Palace of El-Arish is located on an area of 1900 square meters and it includes a ground floor and two floors.

The ground floor contains the main 3 entrances that lead to the theater hall and the other two lead to the side roads and to the stairs of the upper floors.

The theater hall has a capacity of 250 seats, in addition to service rooms, a VIP hall, administrative offices, a store for decoration, an art gallery and two rooms for artists.

As for the first floor, it is pided into three separate areas: the balcony area- which can accommodate 150 seats- 4 administrative rooms; the activities area consist of 13 rooms, 2 administrative rooms, 10 rooms for activities and arts, including an information technology club, a children's library, a seminar room and a hall for music and listening.

The second floor is pided into three areas, the first is the administrative area, consisting of 5 administrative rooms. The second area includes the cultural area, consisting of a technical training hall and a library.

The third area is allocated for services including two rooms for stores in addition to a projection room.
