Dr. Badr Abdel Atty Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, warned of the danger of expanding military operations in Gaza, stressing Egypt's categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land and the need to work toward establishing a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, in accordance with international resolutions.
This came during a phone call the Foreign Minister received Monday evening from Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, during which they discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and the latest developments related to the Iranian nuclear issue.
The Egyptian foreign minister briefed his Italian counterpart on Egypt and Qatar's tireless efforts to achieve a ceasefire, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip, and alleviate the suffering of the defenseless Palestinian people in light of the blatant violations committed by Israel.
The two ministers also discussed developments in the Iranian nuclear file.
Abdel Atty reviewed Egypt's contacts aimed at creating conditions for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. He emphasized that Egypt seeks to reach a sustainable settlement that takes into account the interests of all parties, thus contributing to creating a climate conducive to achieving regional security and stability in the Middle East.
