Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas confirmed on Sunday that the general elections will not be held without the participation of Jerusalem and its residents.
This came during a meeting of the Fatah Central Committee in Ramallah.
Moreover, Abbas urged the international community to pressure the Israeli government to abide by the agreements related to the electoral process.
“Jerusalem is a red line,” the Palestinian president stressed during the meeting. “We won’t allow anyone to harm it.”
In addition, he praised the residents of Jerusalem for "their steadfastness in the face of Israeli plans aimed at controlling the holy city."
