On Tuesday, the United Nations (UN) supported a recommendation by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas has called for an international conference for peace with the participation of the concerned Quadripartite Committee for Peace parties.

Cheikh added that the Israeli settlements form obstacles against the process of peace, moreover, the presence of the wall symbolizes the concept of Israeli occupation and expansion.

His words came on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, on November 29.

In the same context, the president of the UN General Assembly, Volkan Bozkır asserted that Palestinian rights are non-negotiable. The conditions of obtaining peace are not changeable.

Previously, President Abbas called for an international conference of peace supervised by the UN and witnessing the presence of the concerned parties of peace at the beginning of the upcoming year.

He also underscored the need of adopting a serious process of peace based on international law principles and international resources for ending the Israeli occupation and announcing an independent Palestinian state.

The Quadripartite Committee for Peace was founded in 2002. It consists of 4 parties: UN, EU, the US, and the UK.

Furthermore, the committee could be expanded to include the League of Arab Nations state members and the Security Council state members.
