American actor John Krasinski – who starred, directed, and co-wrote 2018 hit Paramount horror movie “A Quiet Place” – came up with a new idea for the production.

Jeff Nichols will write and direct an untitled spinoff connected to the events of the movie.

Krasinski, who directed and co-wrote the still-unreleased sequel, will also produce the new story through his Sunday Night banner along with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller.

"A Quiet Place" is set in a post-apocalyptic world where huge creatures with heightened hearing devour humankind. The movie follows a father (Krasinski) and a mother (Emily Blunt) who struggle to survive and raise their children in the post-apocalyptic world.

The movie was also written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. Beck and Woods, while in college, began developing a story that would lead to the film.

In 2016, Krasinski read their spec script and was hired to direct and rewrite the script in March 2017.

The movie was a huge success with both critics and audiences, allocating more than $340 million worldwide on a budget of less than $20 million, and earning an Oscar nomination for best sound editing.
