An Israeli soldier was injured in the explosion of an explosive device planted under a Palestinian flag, when he tried to kick the flag, in a settlement in the occupied West Bank.

The soldier was from the reserve forces on leave in the settlement of Kochav HaShahar, according to the Israeli army, which also said that the soldiers were searching the area for suspects.

A video clip shows the soldier running towards the flag, and when he reaches it, he tries to kick it, and the explosive device explodes, in what appears to be a pre-prepared trap.

According to press reports, the reservist suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Last January, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir decided to ban Palestinian flags in public places, and ordered the police to remove them.
