The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has revealed that 92% of homes in Gaza, about 436,000 residences, have been destroyed or damaged during the recent Israeli offensive.

Additionally, 90% of the population has been displaced from their homes, marking a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

Rick Peeperkorn, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) representative in Palestine, acknowledged that the ceasefire announcement offers a glimmer of hope.

However, he emphasized that addressing the enormous needs of the displaced population and restoring Gaza’s devastated health system will be an immensely complex and daunting task, given the scale of destruction and operational challenges.

The destruction of homes and infrastructure, coupled with the displacement of hundreds of thousands, underscores the urgency for international humanitarian intervention.

Rebuilding efforts will require substantial resources, collaboration, and time to restore basic living conditions and essential services in Gaza.
