The vaccine will be given to front-line health workers, care home workers, and those aged over 80 before it is given more widely among the U.K. population.

The first campaign is supposed to end next Spring, however, another national wide campaign will start at the beginning of 2021.

Chief Executive of the National Health Service Simon Stevens described the campaign as a “decisive turning point in the battle against coronavirus.”

"British newspapers, meanwhile, hailed it “V Day” and “Vaxit” (a play on “Brexit” — the other big news in the U.K. this week)," CNBC reported

The UK brought 40 million doses of Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine, which proved to be 95% effective at preventing Covid infection in late-stage clinical trials.

On his side, Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care expressed that 90 persons took the vaccine in the first 15 of opening the door for Vaccinations.

It is worthy to mention that the British media reported that Queen Elizabeth II will be among the people who will receive COVID-19 vaccine.
