Severe rainfall across Peru since December has resulted in the deaths of 85 people and the displacement of more than 47,000 residents, according to official reports.
The National Institute of Civil Protection attributed most fatalities to landslides, flooding, and overflowing rivers, particularly affecting the Andes and Amazon regions.
The death toll has nearly doubled since February, when 47 fatalities were recorded.
The extreme weather has also caused widespread destruction, with 3,098 homes completely destroyed, while 19,000 properties have been rendered uninhabitable.
Authorities continue to assess the damage as affected communities struggle to recover from the ongoing crisis.
