The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar issued a joint statement on Saturday welcoming recent developments toward ending the ongoing war in Gaza.
The ministers commended the steps taken by Hamas in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal, which calls for an end to hostilities, the release of all hostages, both alive and deceased, and the immediate launch of negotiations to determine implementation mechanisms.
They also welcomed President Trump’s call for Israel to halt its bombing campaign and to begin implementing the proposed exchange agreement, expressing appreciation for what they described as his renewed commitment to achieving peace in the Middle East.
The joint statement described these steps as a “real opportunity” to reach a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire while addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The ministers further welcomed Hamas’s announcement of its readiness to transfer Gaza’s administration to a transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee composed of independent technocrats.
They emphasized the urgent need to begin negotiations to finalize the practical mechanisms for implementing the proposal and to ensure all aspects are adequately addressed.
Reaffirming their collective stance, the eight nations pledged to continue supporting diplomatic efforts to end the war and secure a comprehensive agreement that guarantees the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, prevents the displacement of Palestinians, and protects civilians.
The statement also underscored the need for the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza, the unification of Gaza and the West Bank under one administration, and the establishment of a security framework ensuring the safety of all parties.
The ministers called for a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the rebuilding of the enclave, framing these steps as essential to creating a path toward a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
