Eight people have been killed in a fire at a nightclub being renovated in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, the capital's police spokesman reported.
"Two more bodies were found in the burning nightclub building over the weekend, bringing the total death toll to eight, six Chinese and two Vietnamese women," San Sok Seiha, spokesman for the Phnom Penh Metropolitan police, told Xinhua, adding that the victims were restoration workers.
"According to the forensic report conducted by doctors, the eight people died as a result of suffocation," the spokesman said.
The fire broke out on Saturday evening on the fifth floor of the nightclub in the Tuol Cork district of the capital when the victims were repairing parts of the building, according to the spokesman.
The spokesman added that the police arrested four people for interrogation in this tragic incident.
