At least eight people were killed and a child injured after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck parts of Afghanistan, authorities said.
According to Afghanistan’s disaster management agency, the victims died when their home collapsed in the capital, Kabul, following the quake. Residents in several areas reported feeling the tremor, with no additional casualties confirmed so far.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences said the earthquake’s epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region.
Strong aftershocks were also felt in neighboring countries, including Islamabad in Pakistan and New Delhi in India.
