Eight miners tragically lost their lives due to suffocation in a mine located in the Al Alaqi region of the Red Sea state in Eastern Sudan, the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company announced on Sunday.
The company, which falls under the Ministry of Minerals and is responsible for mining activities in the country, revealed that the workers met their untimely demise as a result of suffocation and oxygen deprivation following a good ignition.
According to the company's statement, authorities promptly retrieved the bodies of the eight workers from the mine and transported them to a nearby hospital.
This unfortunate event comes on the heels of another mining tragedy in the Northern State, where on March 31st, 14 miners lost their lives, and more than 20 others were injured following a mine collapse.
