In the latest development of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, the seventh exchange operation took place today in Bani Suheila, Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. Hamas handed over the remains of four hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross, including two children, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, and their mother, Shiri.
The handover ceremony was held at the "Martyrs' Cemetery," where a platform was set up surrounded by images carrying messages directed at Israel. Among them was a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stained with blood, accusing him of the hostages' deaths.
This exchange is part of the first phase of the truce agreement, which is set to continue on Saturday with the release of six Israeli prisoners in exchange for 628 Palestinian detainees.
Since the ceasefire began on November 19, a series of exchange operations have been carried out, resulting in the release of 19 Israeli hostages in return for more than 1,100 Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas has expressed its willingness to release all remaining hostages in Gaza in a "single batch" during the second phase of the truce, scheduled to begin on March 2. This phase aims to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza completely.
However, negotiations are facing challenges, with both Hamas and Israel accusing each other of violating the first phase of the agreement.
The third and final phase of the truce will focus on the reconstruction of Gaza, which has suffered extensive damage during the conflict.
