The Egyptian Air Force organized a ceremony to celebrate finishing the third phase of the development of an air base in cooperation with the US counterpart.
The development work included upgrading the capabilities of the engineering equipment as well as the construction and development of the administrative facilities to ensure the improvement of administrative and moral affairs of the combatants.
The development work comes within the framework of the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to continuously develop and modernize the capabilities of the armed forces in various branches and specialties in cooperation with friendly and brotherly countries to keep abreast of the latest global armament systems in various fields.
Egypt, even though it has one of the most powerful militaries in the region, some sort of iconic headquarters for the country's Ministry of Defense doesn't come to mind, but that is about to change—dramatically.
The Egyptian Air Force is the aviation branch of the Egyptian Armed Forces, is responsible for all airborne defence missions and operates all military aircraft, including those used in support of the Egyptian Army, Egyptian Navy and the Egyptian Air Defense Forces, created as a separate command in the 1970s, coordinates with the Air Force to integrate air and ground-based air defense operations. The EAF is headed by an Air Marshal (Lieutenant General equivalent). Currently, the commander of the Egyptian Air Force is Air Marshal Mohamed Abbas.
