7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Myanmar, Death Toll Jumps to 144

Myanmar was struck by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake, and its aftershocks and tremors were felt in five neighboring countries. 

The most impacted Myanmar neighbouring country was Thailand.

According to the official media agency, the death toll from the earthquake that struck Myanmar has risen to 144.

The local agency also reported that the number of injured has exceeded 700.

The earthquake caused the collapse of the bridge connecting Sagaing and Mandalay in the northwest of the country; in addition, it destroyed several buildings.

According to CNN, the country is suffering from harsh communication difficulties that restrict the humanitarian efforts.

On top of communication blackouts, key roads were damaged, including a highway that goes to Mandalay, the epicenter of the earthquake.
