The local agency also reported that the number of injured has exceeded 700.
The earthquake caused the collapse of the bridge connecting Sagaing and Mandalay in the northwest of the country; in addition, it destroyed several buildings.
According to CNN, the country is suffering from harsh communication difficulties that restrict the humanitarian efforts.
On top of communication blackouts, key roads were damaged, including a highway that goes to Mandalay, the epicenter of the earthquake.
