A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hits New Zealand's Kermadec Islands on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.
The authority estimated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. The US Tsunami Warning System reported that a tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake.
According to "Independent Newspaper" the National Emergency Management Agency (Nema) and the Bureau of Meteorology confirmed there was no tsunami threat to mainland New Zealand and Australia.
