At least seven people were killed and 17 others injured after a powerful explosion struck southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region overnight, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the cause of the incident.
According to local authorities, the explosion occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. local time on a street in Xing’an Town, located in Xing’an County. Emergency services responded to the scene, where seven fatalities and 17 injuries were reported.
Officials said all injured victims were transported to hospital for treatment, adding that none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities have ruled out a gas pipeline leak as the cause of the explosion and have launched a full investigation to determine what triggered the blast.
