At least seven people were killed and more than 18 others injured after an explosion near a police station in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, according to police and medical officials.
The blast occurred close to a rickshaw near Nawarang Police Station in the Sarai Naurang market area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region that has witnessed repeated militant violence in recent years.
Police said the explosion caused significant casualties in the crowded marketplace, while emergency teams rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals.
Hospital authorities confirmed that seven bodies were transferred to Nawarang Hospital following the attack. Officials added that two traffic police officers were among those killed.
Medical sources said the injured included women and children, raising concerns over the impact on civilians in the area.
Security forces have launched an investigation into the incident, although no group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
The attack comes amid ongoing security challenges in northwestern Pakistan, where authorities continue operations against militant groups active along the border regions.
