At least seven people have died as a result of powerful storms and tornadoes sweeping across the central and southern United States, according to local authorities on Thursday.
The National Weather Service warned that the intense weather system is expected to persist in the central region, increasing the risk of flooding and tornadoes in areas already drenched by heavy rainfall.
Since Wednesday, severe weather conditions have led to multiple fatalities, with media reports confirming at least seven deaths.
The Storm Prediction Center reported that around 34 tornadoes have been recorded in the region since Wednesday.
As the system continues to move through the country, meteorologists urge residents in affected areas to remain alert for further extreme weather threats.
