Seven people were killed in a coal mine accident in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Wednesday.
The Chinese news agency "Xinhua" quoted the emergency management authorities as saying that eight workers were trapped during an operation to plug leaky holes in a ventilation shaft in the coal mine located in Wutongqiao District of Heshan City in Sichuan Province.
Search and rescue efforts confirmed the death of seven people as of two o'clock this afternoon, and search and rescue operations are still continuing, as one person is still missing.
